Background
Hi my name is Dottie and my nightmare started Thursday February 29 2024. I was at work on my lunch break and as I was scrolling through Facebook I saw a post that I for sure thought was a mistake. The post stated that my baby sister, Angela Parrish had passed away early that morning. Nobody bothered to notify me before posting the news on Facebook. I found out on Facebook that my baby sister passed away. My sister and I lost our grandparents in 2000 and 2009. Our parents passed in 2008 and 2014. My sister and I were the only ones left on this side of the family. We have aunts and uncles and cousins but unfortunately we aren’t close to them at all. My sister left behind a precious 11 year old son, Everette who has Down Syndrome. This sweet little boy continues to run to the front door waiting for his mommy come through the door. When he wakes up every morning he asks if his mommy came home last night. He doesn’t understand what is going on and that his mommy isn’t coming home. Seeing him do this constantly breaks my heart into a million pieces. I wish I could do something anything to make his pain and everyone’s pain go away. Unfortunately, I can’t.
I found out that my sister was found unresponsive on her bed around 4:00am on Thursday morning. CPR was performed until EMS arrived. When EMS arrived they shocked her heart to try and get her heart started again. The EMS did get her heart rate up to 42 bpm. When her cardiologist was contacted he asked how long had she been without oxygen. No on unfortunately knew for exactly. So it was determined that if by a miracle the EMS was able to bring her back she would most likely suffer from brain damage. I know for a fact my sister would not have wanted that. EMS stopped life saving methods and called her death at 4:45am on Thursday February 29 2024. Her precious little boy had no idea what had just happened. He wanted to know when he was leaving for school. He did go to school that morning and his teacher was informed what had happened with his mom.
She was finally removed from the home by Hudson Funeral Home. Unfortunately my sister did not have any type of life insurance. I received a call 3 days after she had passed from Hudson, since I am the next of kin wanting to know how I was going to be paying for her cremation service. I asked how much that would be and I was told it was going to be almost $3400.00. Plus on top of that there is a fee of almost $650.00 for the removal of my sister from her home to the funeral home. I do know that she did not want a burial her last wishes were to be she did cremated. I am personally struggling myself just to pay my bills and keep my head above water. There is no possible way I can almost $2000.00. Hudson was nice enough to lower the price to 1500.00 for the cremation and the removal fee to $350.00 but I still can’t afford that. I want honor my beautiful sisters final wishes. However, there is no way I can do this when I can’t pay what Hudson’s wants. My sister was the most beautiful giving type of person you would ever meet. She is the type of person that would not want me to struggle with my bills to the point that I get behind and risk the chance of eviction or repossession of my car. I have no one to turn to and ask for help. I’ve called to see if her body can be donated for science or to a medical school. Everyone has said it is too late to submit her body. If we can’t come up with the money. I think the county would take control of her body, cremate her but we will have no idea where or what happened to her
I have tried all other avenues. If there is anyone that can help my family and Everette her little boy we all would be so forever grateful. Any amount would definitely help. If you can’t help thank you for taking the time to read my post. Please hi keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
