Angela “Angie” Lawrence Blanchard, 57, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 3, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on April 27, 1968, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Angie was a proud graduate of Upper Iowa University and a dedicated mother and grandmother. She could talk for hours about her three grandchildren and often shared stories of each of their unique qualities. She was especially proud of the close bond she had with her granddaughter, who was also her best friend.

Her two children were her greatest accomplishments and the greatest blessings of her life. She reminded them often how proud she was of them and how deeply she loved them.

Angie was resilient and determined, and she never allowed her disabilities to prevent her from doing the things she set her mind to. She was a true-crime enthusiast, a Baja Blast lover, and never missed an opportunity to wear her favorite shade of camo green.

Angie was preceded in death by her mother, Lea Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter Stephani (Eric) Cummings; son Todd (Jennifer) Blanchard; grandchildren Alexander (18), Noah (15), and Delaney (12) Cummings; her father Rodger Lawrence; her brother George Lawrence; sister-cousin Aleta (Pete) Szostak; the love of her life Michael Irving; and many other relatives, family members, and lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Thursday, December 11th, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Indianola First Assembly Church in the Fireside Room, 1700 W 2nd Avenue Indianola, IA 50125. The family requests fancy casual attire, and would love for guests to honor Angie by including a touch of Army green, her favorite color.
