Angel's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Angel Dominic Maggio, who left us on his 42nd birthday, June 16, 2023. Angel, known colloquially to some as Nemzino, Zeno/Zino, or Nemik, was born on June 16, 1981. He was an authentic soul, known for his witty sense of humor and fun-loving spirit.
Angel is survived by his wife, Celia Maggio, whom he married in 2019. From his first marriage to Lisa Crotzer in 2002, who also survives him, he gained much experience about love and life. He was a loving father to his children- Genevieve Knott, Giovanni Maggio, and Carmelo Maggio. The loss of his son, Andrew Van Gorden, on June 5, 2000, remained with him throughout his life.
He was the cherished son of Esther Maggio and the late William Maggio. Angel is also survived by his siblings; William "Billy" Maggio, Jackie Escalante, Eric Escalante, and Robert Escalante. He was also predeceased by his sister, Brenda Freise.
Angel was a man dedicated to helping others, a passion that was evident in his professional life as well. In 2018, he graduated with a Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counseling from Los Angeles Trade Technical College, striving to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with addiction.
He was a proud Highlander, having graduated from Highland High School in Palmdale, California in 2000. The lessons he learned there guided him throughout his life and anchored him in his later accomplishments.
We remember Angel not just for his achievements, but for the warmth of his personality, his authentic spirit, endless wit, and his ability to make every moment fun. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
