Gost's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Jedi Master Andrew "Ghost" Shute. Born on October 1, 1986, Ghost's light was sadly extinguished on March 21, 2025. A man of exceptional spirit and compassion, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ghost embodied a rare combination of fearlessness and kindness in his approach to life. He was known to be non-judgmental, always ready to offer understanding and perspective. His commitment to respect and compassion reverberated in his relationships, leaving a lasting, tangible impression on those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Among Ghost's many accomplishments, the one dearest to his heart was his beloved daughter, Kipo Shute. She, along with his mother Gretchen Alley, step-father Curtis Alley, father Greg Shute, grandmothers Angela Parks, Grace Shute & Linda Shute, brother Alexander Shute, sister Ash Green, and a host of loving aunts, Andrea Potter, Gennifer Keiser, Gloria Menke, Glenda Head, Amy McDowell and April Molina, uncles, cousins, and his niece, Freya Green, survive him mourned also by cousins Henry, Daniel & Olivia Potter. Close chosen family Krystal & Lucas King, Tony Teson, Steve Bogle, Karlos Dravo, Fritz McNamara, The Barnes family, Jayden Orion & so many others.  Ghost was preceded in death by his grandfather George Shute, uncle Noel Head, and cousins Josiah Menke and Hunter Minner.

Ghost’s life was a testament to advocacy and activism. He stood tall at the Dakotas Access Pipeline protests in 2016, fought for Indigenous rights at the Sabal protests in 2017, and lent his voice to the cause of social justice at the Black Lives Matter protests in both 2014 and 2019. He championed women’s rights in 2018, and his commitment to these causes reflected his deep-seated love for the earth and its people. His legacy—kindness, generosity, and an enduring spirit—will continue to inspire and uplift those who carry his memory in their hearts.

When not fighting for the causes he held dear, Ghost could be found enjoying simple pleasures. Regarded as a man who appreciated all foods, he held a childhood fondness for pizza—a tribute to his favorite childhood heroes, the Ninja Turtles. His favorite local spots included Outback pizza in Quartzsite, and his magical place in Mt. Shasta—the waterfall. He found joy in walking or biking, in reading John Grisham novels, and even in his childhood obsession with The Little Mermaid.

A celebration of Ghost's life will be held on June 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Mount Shasta and on May 9, 2025, at 10:30 PM at Vago Park. His loved ones invite all who knew him to remember and honor his impactful life.

Ghost's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his life will serve as a beacon of kindness, love, and light. Our world was undoubtedly enriched by his presence, and will continue to feel the absence of such a noble spirit.
