Andrew's obituary

Andrew Paul Rosario, born April 18, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York, to Angelo and Dr. Arceli Rosario, died on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Raised in Staten Island, Andrew grew up loving music, sports (Go Devils!), and most of all, his family and friends. Andrew attended Monsignor Farrell High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in public relations, advertising, and applied communication from Seton Hall University. He furthered his education at Emerson College with a Master of Arts in integrated marketing. Andrew leveraged his academic achievements to build a successful marketing career in web development, multi-channel marketing, content creation, and strategic branding. He spent four years working in Boston and relocated to New York, New York in 2011, promptly after meeting the love of his life, his wife Marilyn, knowing instantly they had something truly special.

Having met through a mutual friend, Andrew and Marilyn cherished their courtship in New York City and bonded over a shared affinity for music and traveling. An activity that would cement their love and spur many future adventures was a passion for feeling the wind on their cheeks as they flew down a mountain, Marilyn on skis and Andrew on a snowboard. Winter explorations took them throughout the United States, including to Pennsylvania, Utah and Vermont. They also enjoyed a “bucket list” trip to the Alps, hitting the slopes at the famed ski resorts of Chamonix in France and Zermatt in Switzerland.

Andrew and Marilyn wed on August 17, 2013, and began their greatest, most treasured adventure – becoming a family. They welcomed their son, Asher Phoenix, in 2016 and Noémie Estelle joined them in 2019. They settled in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, and Andrew and Marilyn joyfully adapted their life of love and adventure to include their precious children.

Andrew taught Asher how to play hockey and baseball. Whether on the ice or in the diamond, Andrew was Asher’s biggest fan, often as a coach. He made sure Asher grew up on a snowboard and taught Asher how to carve and glide. Andrew loved seeing Noémie learn to swim and would be one of the few parents to join his child in the pool and play after her lessons. He was always eager to see Noémie’s amazing dance moves as she started taking ballet and tap. More importantly, he was with them during the small, everyday moments from making breakfast, saying goodnight prayers, kissing owies, dancing in the living room, and sharing his unconditional adoration.

The force with which Andrew loved his family was also extended to his in-laws, the Elsner family, and lifelong friends. He formed friendships with individuals from childhood to adulthood, and they were a source of companionship, encouragement, and laughter throughout his life. These friends will forever be part of his family and undoubtedly contribute to his lasting memory.

Andrew is survived by his wife Marilyn; two children, Asher and Noémie; his parents, Angelo and Dr. Arceli Rosario of Staten Island, New York; his sister, Audrey Rosario of Orlando, Florida; his brother in-laws, Chris (Melissa) Elsner of Jackson, New Jersey and Thomas (Rachel) Elsner of Louisville, Kentucky; and his niece and nephews, Lucía Songalia-Rosario, of Glenalmond, Scotland and Aidan and Isaac Elsner of Jackson, New Jersey.

Friends and relatives may visit on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Avenue in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 16, at 9:30 AM in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2032 Westfield Avenue in Scotch Plains. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery & Arboretum, 1100 East Broad Street in Westfield.
