Andrew's obituary

Andrew Peter Murphy was born August 18, 1986, at Jackson County Hospital in Scottsboro, Alabama. He died unexpectedly on Monday, June 16, 2025, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly. His daughter, Harper Anne, was the love of his life. His mother, Susan Sedberry Murphy, celebrates his life along with his brothers Charles and Hunter (Danny), his sister Mary Katherine Murphy, and Harper Anne’s mom Darby.

His father (Tim Murphy) preceded him in death by seven months. They had everything in common.

Growing up, Andrew was a natural basketball player, athlete, and wit. He loved music, his family, the Crimson Tide, and all his friends from Scottsboro, Florence, and Birmingham.

Like all of God’s children, his life was complex and layered. He was wild and funny. He had a passion for God and believed fervently in divine mercy, love, and redemption.

Andrew’s memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (228 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL) at 11am, Friday, June 20, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Andrew’s memory to Any Length Resources (1520 2nd Ave N, Bessemer, AL 35020) and Turning Point Foundation (1881 Co Rd 627, Thorsby, AL 35171).
