Andrew Kumblad Smith, 62.

Andy was born on July 29th, 1961 to Ruth K. Smith and William R.T. Smith. He passed away on May 20th, 2024 at home surrounded by his sister Nancy S. Eschker and his daughters, Hannah E. Smith and Madeline R. Smith. He is also survived by his wife, Carolyn E. Smith, and his brothers, William R.T. Smith Jr., Alexander D. Smith, and his nephews, Eric N. Smith, Kevin C. Smith,  Colin D. Smith, Kyle I. Smith, Samuel J. Eschker, and nieces  Emma J. Stammeyer and Lauren N. Smith.

Andy graduated from New Trier Township High School and continued his education at the University of Kansas. During his lifetime he was active in baseball, hockey, track and field, golf, tennis, football and skiing. He loved traveling to go skiing. His career was largely in residential construction and repair. 

He loved volunteering at Camp Echo in Michigan, and loved all animals. He was a lover of yard work, and kept bird feeders for many types of birds. He loved his kitties, as he had 4 at the time of his passing. He always listened to music. His favorite bands were Yes and Led Zeppelin.

He will be missed by all who knew him, especially those who were not aware of his final illness. He never complained about it or much else. He simply took things as they came and moved on, we should all be so lucky to be like him.
