The service will be held at the Gates-Hillman Center (GHC, or just “Gates”) in Room 6115 and will be followed by a reception with food and drink in the same location.
RSVPing is not required, but we are trying to get a ballpark sense of numbers to ensure there are enough chairs and food. If you can, please indicate if you plan on attending or email Amy at amy [dot] faulring [at] gmail [dot] com.
The Gates-Hillman Center houses the School for Computer Science and is the building labeled GC in quadrant E5 of this map: https://www.cmu.edu/assets/pd….
Because the building is automatically locked on weekends, please use the main entrance located off the footpath from Forbes Avenue (there is construction across from this entrance). There will be 1-2 people stationed here to let you in. Once inside, you'll be on the 4th floor of the building, so you'll walk towards the main elevators and proceed to the 6th floor. We'll put up signs outside of Gates to help you find the correct entrance.
If you plan to park on campus, the best lot is the East Campus Garage (GPS Address: 5040 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213). It is a 5-minute walk to Gates and free on weekends. There is another lot called the Gates lot that is technically closer, but CMU folks say that it is confusing to find. More information about visitor parking can be found here: https://www.cmu.edu/parking/a…
If you coming in from out of town, there are many hotel options near CMU. Here are a few, as recommended by local folks. The first two are within walking distance to CMU and all three have free shuttles to campus. For a discount, call and ask for a CMU rate (which may or may not be a better rate compared to other discounts).
