Background

As vibrant and radiant as Andressa was, she carried an invisible heaviness that few could see. Life had not always been kind to her. She was hurt by many, and the wounds left behind deepened into quiet battles with depression. Even as she continued to lift others up—to love, to protect, to give—she often had no one to do the same for her. In the end, an unexpected heartbreak, the growing tide of political cruelty and anti-LGBTQ sentiment in the United States, and the unrelenting weight of caring for everyone but herself became too much to bear. Her passing is a painful reminder that even the brightest souls can struggle in silence. In her honor, we ask that donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, so that no one else has to feel as alone as she did, and so that love and understanding might reach those who need it most.
