Andrea's obituary
Andrea L. Lattanzi Lotreck passed away on December 11 at the age of 67 in New Haven, Connecticut, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, a proud grandmother, and an active member of her community.
Born on August 16, 1958, Andrea grew up in Madison and started her family in Bloomfield before settling in Hebron, her home for the last 28 years. There, she raised her family and built a career in Human Resources at Aetna for over 30 years.
She attended culinary school and developed a skill she loved to share with friends and family. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining and made people feel welcome through good food, a warm setting, and thoughtful details.
Thirteen years ago, after her first experience with lymphoma, Andrea shifted her focus toward personal and community wellness. She saw this time as an opportunity to keep learning and growing. She returned to school to complete her bachelor’s degree and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her compassion and kindness brought comfort to those she cared for.
Andrea made friends easily and kept them for a lifetime. Her circle included childhood friends, softball teammates, and the close knit community she found at Ten Summit Yoga and Earth Based Wellness. She was deeply involved in the Hebron Historical Society, where she combined her love of history with her interest in genealogy. She also worked to preserve the property at 17 Kinney Road.
As a mother, she planned celebrations and family vacations that included a Red Sox game, visits to historical landmarks, and activities tailored to her children’s interests.
When her grandson Oscar was born, she embraced being Amma. She nurtured his love of nature through visits to local farms and community events. She found joy in nature and travel but felt happiest at home, walking her rescue dogs on the Air Line Trail and spending time with family.
Andrea faced her recent cancer diagnosis with courage and grace. She did not let illness change who she was. Even in the hospital, she kept her quick wit and formed genuine connections with those who cared for her.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David Lotreck; her daughter, Daria Thibodeau, her husband Michael, and their son Oscar; and her son Drew Lotreck and his partner Larisa Melinson. She also leaves her mother, Valerie A. Lattanzi; her sister, Valerie Lattanzi, and her nephew Mason Fibkins; and her brother, Albert A. Lattanzi. She was predeceased by her father, Edward C. “Skip” Lattanzi, and her brother, Edward K. Lattanzi.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter.
