My wife and I have a great many wonderful memories of Gem over decades at her Columbus restaurant. It was not only the best Asian restaurant in the city, it was the most welcoming and friendly restaurant we have ever encountered. Gem and Noy were the most wonderful hosts . They taught us to love the exceptional Thai food they shared with us countless times, often for free. They shared their family ups and downs and we shared ours. We saw Burt and Annie grow from kids running around the restaurant to exceptional adults. Gem and Noy were the epitome of the American - Thai work ethic. Gem treated you like a guest in her home. It saddens us to no end to hear of her passing. Annie and Burt we want you to know how much we loved your mother. God bless her and her family. The world is much poorer for the loss of Gem Dhiraprasiddhi.

Sweet Grandma Gem...I only met you once...took a wrong turn my first time at Annie & Hunter's house chasing around a kid and ended up in your living room. You didn't know me, a stranger standing there, but immediately your face lit up with the warmest smile. You came to me, gave me a hug, introduced me to Grandpa and the fattest dog I've ever seen, in words I didn't fully understand, then took my hand and walked me back out to Hunter. Later that night amazing food started appearing from downstairs...another sign of your selfless love as guests you didn't know ate the delicious food you'd prepared for them. I felt your heart the moment I met you, I could taste your care and thoughtfulness in each bite, and knew I'd met an angel that day. Now you're back home, with the rest of your kind, and we're all left here, a bit emptier, but so much better for having known you for even a moment. You left an impression in a matter of minutes that I'll not soon forget; you left an imprint forever on those who knew you best. You are missed beyond comprehending by your family that adore you, especially your daughter and granddaughters...but you live on in their smiles, their warm hugs, their lovingkindness, hearts of service and hospitality, creativity and of course, the way they feed other's bellies and hearts through all you've taught them in the kitchen. I wish we could have made more of our own, but I look forward to hearing stories and memories from them as the years pass and they share you with friends and family through their telling. Rest easy Grandma Gem... heaven's never had it so good...save us a spot at the table till we meet again 💛
