We are sad to announce the passing of Ana Maria Ariza of Piney Flats, TN. She died at age 42 on February 17th, 2023. Ana passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a long and brave battle with cervical cancer.

Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, as a young child Ana surprised many with her precociousness and intelligence. She brought these traits with her when her family immigrated to Miami, FL in 1987. Here, she flourished as a top scholar in school, vocalist in chorus ensembles, and musician playing the French Horn. As an adult, Ana met the love of her life, Humberto Jimenez with whom she built a loving family and had two daughters in Miami before choosing to build a new life for their family in Piney Flats, TN. In their new home, Ana continued living a life touching the hearts of many through her bright smile and sage wisdom as pastor of El Rio of Tri-Cities Church delivering inspiring sermons and lived her life according to Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus’ commission to His followers. Her choice of career supported her Christian beliefs; working in Miami, FL at Easter Seals supporting individuals with disabilities, and as a manager at Amedisys Home Health in Kingsport, Tennessee supporting the care of the elderly and ill until her last weeks.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Humberto Jimenez; her beautiful daughters, Abigail, and Kassandra; her devoted mother, Maria Ariza; her younger siblings, Cindy and Jairo Ariza; her nephew, Maximus Perez; in addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A funeral service will be held in her honor at 9 AM on February 21st at Trinity Memorial Center in Kingsport, TN.
