Ana's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Ana Garcia, an extraordinarily loved woman, who joined our maker on August 9, 2024. Born April 22, 1944, Ana completed her earthly journey and left a legacy characterized by her genuine love for people, unyielding kindness, and formidable generosity.

Ana was a doting mother to her surviving son, Ivan DeGonzalez. She is also survived three great-grandchildren: Daniel, Dayvon, and Destiny Hensford. She was predeceased by her son Danny Rivera, her grandson, Dante Hensford, and her parents, Elena Soto Negron and Juan Bautista Hernandez. The love she shared with her family was palpable and unwavering, creating a bond that transcended generations.

Ana lived her life in service to others. She was an avid volunteer at Holy Ghost Ministries and the Morris Brown AME Church. Her commitment to giving was not limited to her time but also extended to her tangible resources. She was passionate about working the food pantry and packing clothes for those in need, bringing her immeasurable joy and fulfillment.

Ana was a lover of life. Her favorite foods were arroz con gandules and pernil, which she paired with her favorite drink, pina colada. She found solace in the tunes of Juan Gabriel and Rocio Jurado and thoroughly enjoyed watching Spanish novellas. Her tranquil moments were spent gardening and cooking, activities she loved deeply. Puerto Rico remained her favorite vacation spot, where she found tranquility and serenity.

Ana was, in essence, a caring, loving, helpful, giving, and generous woman who loved to spend time with her friends. She believed in caring for others, showing love, and exhibited no prejudice, always accepting people as they were. Her life was filled with significant accomplishments, among which she took immense pride in raising her children and maintaining a consistently beautiful garden.
