Amzi's obituary
Amzi was none of these things, or perhaps he was all of them. What he was, was a dreamer. Amzi dreamed big. Amzi impacted everyone he came in contact with. It’s no surprise that Amzi was featured as a hero of most of his dreams.
Amzi Barial Burt, Jr., 77, departed this life and went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2021. Amzi was born to the late Amzi Burt, Sr. and Pinky Lee Burt in Clarksdale, Mississippi on October 30, 1943.
Amzi graduated from Coahoma Aggie High School in 1963 and continued his education at Coahoma Community College, receiving an Associate's degree in Art in 1965 and received a B.S. degree in Secondary Education from the Alabama A&M University in 1968.
In 2000, he was joined in holy matrimony to Susie Mae Burt, and they lived together in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Together they raised 6 children: Bobbie Jean Ranson, Mary Ann Ranson (Deceased), Samantha Burt Barnes, Jennifer Renea Ranson, Amanda Serenity Bell (Orlando), Lashunda Denise Ranson. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Amzi is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Burt Brown, daughter, Mary Ann Ranson, and granddaughter, Josephine Sanchez Ranson.
Amzi has always had a big heart and dealt with all experiences in life. He known for his love of football and inflicted his love football on all who knew him. One of Amzi’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. He was always there for them through their ups and downs and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer.
