Amy's obituary
Born and raised on a Nebraskan farm, Amy moved to California to attend Biola University. While there, she met and married Court Houseman. Court soon deployed to the South Pacific, and Amy moved in with his parents in Alameda. As World War II raged, she did her part on the home front by working at the naval air station.
After the war, Amy and Court moved to Castro Valley with their daughters Yvonne and Jeanne. Amy had a special love for babies, so she became a foster mom. In all, she fostered 64 babies as well as several older children and adopted a little boy she and Court named Fred.
Amy will be remembered for her joy and quiet service. She blessed others until the very end through her sweet spirit, singing her favorite hymns, and quoting Scripture. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Please join us in celebration of her life on Saturday, November 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Redwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to World Vision, a cause near and dear to Amy’s heart.
