Amy's obituary
Amy McGuire DiObilda, 38, passed away this Mother’s Day. She is survived by her loving husband, Darren DiObilda, her parents Stephen and Patricia McGuire and her sisters Erin Simon (Kurt) and Katie McGuire (Keith Moser).
Amy was born and raised in West Chester, PA, where she attended St. Agnes Elementary School, graduated from Villa Maria Academy in 2004 and went on to Temple University. Her dearest friends will always remember her kindness, her compassion and her playful wit.
Amy adored animals, especially her beloved dogs, Marley and Joplin and her cat, Norma Jean. She was a voracious reader and an enthusiastic concert-goer with eclectic tastes, from Rod Stewart, to Dolly Parton to her favorite, Paramore.
On July 7, 2010, Amy married her soulmate and best friend Darren. Together they shared a love of travel, visiting Thailand, Germany, and Hawaii, as well taking the road to Virginia, California, Kodiak Island, Alaska, and Charleston, South Carolina. Her husband transferred to The Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, New Jersey, bringing her full circle home where she could be closer to her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Of all the places she visited, though, her special place was the McGuire family home on the shores of Cayuga Lake in Aurora, New York, where, as she wished, she will be forever present.
Amy’s creative talents knew no bounds. She was an accomplished artist, a thoughtful and gifted writer and was blessed with a lovely singing voice. She sang with Chester County Voices abroad while in high school and performed with them in the British Isles. Amy’s friends and family loved her beautiful and infectious smile and listening to her embellished stories, delivered with her unique sense of humor. She was a truly genuine person, generous to a fault and an avid contributor to community food drives during the pandemic and to Act in Faith when she was home with her mother. She loved frequenting thrift stores, always the homespun fashionista that she was known to be.
Amy was and is “All Things Bright and Beautiful.” To those who knew and loved her, she will be sorely missed.
At Amy’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of her life will be held sometime this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandywine SPCA (bvspca.com) or to Act In Faith (actinfaithwc.org)
