Obituary

Amtus Sami Shafiq, 59, of Fairview, North Carolina, passed away on 26 April 2023. She was born to parents Sheikh Nasir ur Din Ahmad and Amatul Hamid Ahmad, on 30 December 1963 in Pakistan.

Sami worked as a Clinical HIV Pharmacy Specialist and Medical Science Liaison for over 25 years.

She enjoyed writing and reciting original poetry. In 2016, Sami was honored with a TED BMS South Region Award. Other honors include: Specialty Pharmacist of the year, STD/HIV prevention and control award, Excellence in Innovation Award, Excellence in Service Award and Alumni of the Year.

Sami married Malik Shafiq in 1980. Together they raised three children: Zubila, Asif, and Yusef. Her husband Malik Shafiq passed away in 2005.

Sami met Carl Barker in 2011. They were married on December 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She gained two bonus children: Chris and Christine.
