Molly's obituary

Amelia Faz Croaker, lovingly known as Molly, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, July 14, 2024, in Roanoke, VA after a short illness. She was 71.

Molly was the youngest of six children born to Ignacio Faz Sr and Refugio Silva, in El Paso, TX. However, Riverside, CA, where she was raised by her mother, was the place she referred to as her hometown. It was in California that she developed a love for the ocean and the outdoors. There too she met her husband, Leslie Croaker, and together they shared 42 years of life that included living in North Carolina and most recently, Washington State. About a year after Leslie’s passing she accepted an invitation to leave her city life behind and join her niece in Goodview, Virginia where she would live out the remainder of her days.

Molly’s work experience involved working in a hospital setting for most of her adult life. She started out as a CNA and in time eventually filled various clerical type roles. Her life was quiet and simple. She enjoyed dogs, road trips, walks on the beach, reading, listening to podcasts, keeping up with the news and eating good food!

Molly was brave, determined, intelligent, had a sense of humor and was always positive. Most importantly, Molly was a woman of deep faith who had an encounter with Jesus! After having lost her sight while still in her 50s, the words of the hymn, “At the Cross” began to take on new meaning and though she was blind she had a clearer vision of her Savior.

“At the cross, at the cross where

  I first saw the light,

And the burden of my heart rolled away,

It was there by faith I received my sight,

And now I am happy all the day!”

Molly is survived by brothers George  Faz of San Diego, CA; Ignacio (Elvia) Faz Jr of Boones Mill, VA; Samuel (Grecia) Faz of Bowie, MD; Antonio Faz of El Paso, TX; Lorenzo (Patricia Duarte) Faz of El Paso, TX and sister Yolanda Peña also of El Paso, TX.

Molly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leslie Croaker; mother, Refugio Silva; father, Ignacio Faz Sr; sisters, Delane Inzitari and Dolores Brown; brothers, Jesus Faz and Luis Faz

In lieu of flowers, Molly requested that you get to know Jesus and do random acts of kindness.
