Ambrose's obituary
In Loving Memory of
Ambrose Jamal Hicks
December 29, 1986 – April 16, 2026
With profound sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Ambrose Jamal Hicks. Though his life was brief, his presence was powerful, and his story will forever remain part of our family’s foundation.
Ambrose was energetic, funny, and always about his business. He moved with determination and carried a natural strength that made you take notice. Beneath his serious drive was a personality that could light up a room when he chose to. He lived life in his own way and on his own terms.
Ambrose answered the call to serve his country with courage and honor. While serving in the United States military, he was injured in the line of duty and later medically and honorably discharged. His sacrifice and bravery are a permanent part of his legacy. We honor him not only for wearing the uniform, but for the strength it took to endure what came after.
At his heart, Ambrose was about family. Although he did not have children of his own, he was a proud uncle to eleven nieces and nephews. His name, his story, and his place in this family will always be known to them.
Life changed after his injury and divorce. Like many who serve, he carried battles that were not always visible. Time and distance sometimes stood between us, but love never did. Family is not measured by how often we speak, but by the unbreakable bond we share. Blood remembers. Love remembers.
His passing comes shortly after the loss of our beloved mother in August 2024. While our hearts ache deeply, we find comfort in imagining a reunion that brings him the peace this world could not always provide.
Ambrose is survived by his father, his brother, and his four sisters, along with eleven nieces and nephews who carry his memory forward.
At this time, funeral arrangements are pending as his body is being transported from California. Services will be entrusted to Affordable Burial & Cremation Service. Details will be announced once finalized.
A Military Honor
We salute you, Ambrose, for your courage, your service, and your sacrifice.
Your commitment to this nation will never be forgotten.
May you now rest in eternal peace.
Scripture
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
A Poem for Ambrose
You walked a road we did not always see,
Carrying weight silently.
You fought battles both near and far,
Some beneath a flag,
Some within your heart.
Though time and distance came between us,
Love never left.
Blood never forgets.
Now may you rest where pain cannot follow,
Where peace is permanent,
And where light surrounds you.
A Message From Your Siblings
Ambrose, you will always be our brother.
No matter the distance, no matter the silence, no matter the years.
We carry your name.
We carry our memories.
And we carry the love that only siblings understand.
We release you with honor.
We remember you with love.
And we trust that you are finally at peace.
Forever loved.
Forever remembered.
Forever our brother.
