Amanda's obituary
In Loving Memory of Amanda Shirley Kultgen
Amanda Shirley Kultgen passed away September 12, 2025, in Denver, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. She was a cherished daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, niece, cousin, and devoted friend—a beacon of compassion to all who knew her.
Born with a wild spirit and a fierce heart, Amanda was born May 29, 1986, in Denver, Colorado, to Sadie Kultgen and Benny Lucero.
Amanda touched countless lives through her life. Through her everyday interactions, she made people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Amanda’s life was marked by her deep love for her family and her appreciation for the little things in life. She had a laugh that could light up a room, and her jokingly antics could make anyone smile.
Through her life journeys, Amanda grew up in Denver being her brother’s keeper—always hanging out with the boys. But when causing too much trouble, she would have to move with her big sister Yolanda, living in Wyoming and Pagosa Springs, Colorado, while making friends along the way.
She later returned to Denver, becoming a Certified Massage Therapist and working hard to support her growing family. She would go on to have four astounding children and later became a grandmother to Jedidiah, Izzeona, Aticus, and Zylus—the new loves of her life.
She is survived by her mother, Sadie Kultgen; her father, Benny Lucero; her children, Justin Lee (Ariana), Enissa, Nehemiah (Mia), and Josiah—all of whom she loved deeply and who were her world.
She is also survived by her sister Yolanda Shockley (Thomas); brothers Ronnie Kultgen (Naomi), Nash Kultgen (Danielle), Benjamin Ray Lucero (Vanessa), sister Sherry Licon, and brother Ezekiel Lucero-Gonzales; along with many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry her memory forward with grace and gratitude.
Amanda loved her life here on earth, but now she is welcomed into the next chapter and greeted by many family members who have passed before her: West, Grandpa Nash, Ronnie, Lonnie, DJ, Audrey, April, Gram Cracker, and Grandma Mary.
Amanda’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
