Alvin's obituary
Alvin N. Wright Geeter, fondly known as "Al", transitioned to his heavenly home on July 11, 2021. He was surrounded by his two sons, Alvin Jr. and Kevin, and his sister, Marti. The family receives comfort knowing that his is no longer suffering in his earthly body but rather he is in the ever-comforting hands of the Lord.
Alvin N. Wright Geeter, a resident of Wetumpka, AL by way of Newark, NJ, was born on July 6, 1944 to Arthur Geeter and Rosalie Austin, in Chicago, IL. He graduated high school from Lincoln High School in El Paso, TX in 1962. He went on to attend Wilson Junior College in Chicago, IL. From there, he was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. He retired as the Executive Director of the Newark Tenants Council in 1992. He devoted 20 years to improving the quality of life for all tenants in the City of Newark, NJ. February 6th is celebrated as Alvin N. Wright Day in the County of Essex, NJ.
He joins his Mother, Father, Brother, Frank Hopkins, Aunt, Bernice Manly, and Daughter, Chekesha Monique Wright, who all preceded him in transition.
He leaves to cherish his name a daughter, Singleton (Marino) Beato, sons, Kevin (Luwanna) Dunnell and Alvin (Evelyn) Geeter, grandchildren, Kevin, Greyson, Alivia, and Myla, sisters, Charlene, Marti, and Denise (Marion) , brother, Eugene, aunts, Gernell and Jan (Matthew), uncle Troy, cousins, Andre, Rhonda, Eddie, Deborah, Mike, Phyllis, and Sam (Mattie), and a host of other family and friends including Al’s dear friend Elanor Smith.
