Alvin's obituary
Alvin “Jr.” Rivers was born on June 11, 1946, in Youngstown, a son of Doris (Black) and Alvin Rivers Sr.
Alvin exemplified strength and resilience throughout his life, leaving behind an enduring legacy for those who were fortunate enough to know him. With his warm and endearing sense of humor, he touched countless lives, bringing smiles and joy, and positively transforming every environment he entered.
Mr. Rivers proudly graduated from Rayen High School in 1964. He dedicated many years to his career, contributing to the US Steel Mill, The Youngstown Vindicator, and the Medical Supply Courier, where he was known for his hardworking spirit and commitment.
A devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Alvin had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Basketball held a special place in his heart, where he found joy on the court. Above all, his family was his greatest treasure, especially his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Alvin lived a fulfilling life, rich with love and purpose, and he embraced the journey, knowing he was at peace with going home to God, his final resting place. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.
He leaves two former wives Diane Graham (Rivers) and Amanda Oliver (Rivers) both of Youngstown. His children, Kim Rivers, Camille (Darrin Sr.) Hall. Lashaunda (Andre) Mason-Hill, Daniel D, (Heather L.) Ester, Takeysha (Bawani) Johnson, Tiffany (Patrick Sr.) Allen, Alvin Miller, Shannon Scott. He leaves 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Isaac Black (Brother), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Darshell Scott- daughter, Patrick Allen Sr. son-in-law and Fred Lawson- who fostered a positive mentoring relationship.
The family will hold a private event for close friends and family to honor the life of Alvin A. Rivers.
