Alvaretta Ann Sheffield, 82, of Gretna Louisiana passed away on May 8th, 2023. She was born on September 18th, 1940 in Beaumont Texas to Sidney Ropollo and Darlene Conrad Ropollo. Alvaretta is preceded in death by her father, mother, sister Virgina Ropollo Simoneaux, and son Charles Pasco Carter.

Alvaretta is survived by her brother Charles B Naylor, daughters Virginia Diane Carter Melancon (Michael Melancon Sr. Husband) and Deborah Carter Bachot (Alan Bachot Husband), and granddaughter Claudia Diaz Melancon (wife of grandson Michael Melancon Jr.). She is also survived by great-grandson Sebastian Melancon, grandson Charles Melancon and his wife Morgan LeSage Melancon, great-granddaughter Jayden Melancon, great-granddaughter Julianna Melancon, and grandsons Timothy Bachot and Thomas Bachot, and Grand Daughter Casey Carter and Grandson Aaron Carter and 7 other great grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Alvaretta was known for her love of genealogy and her passion for music. She spent 42 years working at Kirshmans Furniture store and Safeguard Promotional products until her retirement. Alvaretta struggled with dementia in her final years, but her love for music and singing never faded.

A funeral mass will be held in her honor at St. Christopher Catholic Church located at 309 Manson Ave. Metairie, La 70001 on May 27th, 2023 Mass at 11am Church doors open at 10am. Private Burial at a later date. Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life. May she rest in peace.
