Alton McKay Burgess Jr “Ricky”, 78, of Broadway, North Carolina, passed away on April 18, 2026.

Alton, known by everyone as Ricky, was born on March 8, 1948 to [mother’s full name] and Alton McKay Burgess, who preceded him in death.

Ricky lived a life full of personality, stories, and unforgettable moments. He was known for being a true character—someone who could talk to anyone, anywhere, and somehow already knew just about everybody. He never met a stranger, and if you gave him a minute, he’d have you laughing or deep in conversation before you knew it.

He had a love for Elvis Presley and carried that same bold, lively spirit with him throughout his life. Ricky was, in every sense of the word, a trip—full of energy, stories, and a presence that people won’t forget.

Those who knew him will remember his big personality, his gift for conversation, and the way he could make any place feel familiar.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Burgess; his sons, Teddy Mack Burgess (Holly Burgess) and Richie Lee Burgess; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.
