Allison's obituary

ALLISON ELIZABETH CARTER

June 30, 1971 - November 29, 2024

Our beautiful, bright star has left us.

Allison Elizabeth Carter passed away peacefully at home on November 29, 2024, surrounded by her much-loved family and adored puppies, Boo Boo, Sam and Bean.

Allison was born June 30, 1971, in Shreveport, LA. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Captain Shreve High School, and Judson College in Marion, AL. She graduated from LSU Shreveport with a degree in Marketing.

Allison spent her adult years in Panama City Beach, FL where she raised her beautiful children, Lauren Pitts and Carter Pitts, and was the Regional Manager of Mason Title and Escrow Company.

Allison fiercely loved her children, pets, family and friends and that love was evident in everything she did. To be loved by Allison was a gift. She had a wonderful ability to make every person in her life feel special. Her sense of humor made her the life of every gathering. Every event was better when Allison was present. Her generosity was so much a part of her.

Allison is preceded in death by her father, Jay Carter, great-grandmother, Kate Pilkinton, grandparents, Harry and Katherine Askew and John and Keet Carter, uncle, Ken Carter, and cousin, Will Ourso.

Allison’s children, Carter Pitts and Lauren Pitts survive her. She is also survived by her mother, Susie Carter Parnell, and stepfather Ronnie Parnell, her brother, Weston Carter, and sisters, Jenny Ashley and husband TJ Ashley and Sarah Margaret Gamble and husband Kit Gamble, nieces, Caroline Murphey and Mary Katherine Ashley and nephew, Drew Frizell. She will be greatly missed by her aunt, Diane Ford and husband Jesse, uncle, Jim Askew and wife Candice, and her numerous loving cousins.

Allison’s family is grateful to Maele Portwood and Gabriel Roberts for their kindness and support and to all the nurses, doctors (especially Dr. Daniel LaVie), navigators, and palliative care at both Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Baton Rouge General Hospital for their kindness and exceptional care.

A memorial service will be held in Frost Chapel of First Baptist Church, 534 Ockley Drive, Shreveport, LA on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM, preceded by visitation at 10:00 AM. A reception in the parlor of First Baptist Church will follow the service.

Pallbearers for private burial on Friday will be Carter Pitts, Gabriel Roberts, Jesse Ford, Weston Carter, Jim Askew and TJ Ashley.
