Al's obituary
Allen "Al" Wesley Walton, lovingly known as Al, peacefully passed away on January 7, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia, at 77. Born on August 24, 1946, in Ticonderoga, New York, Al was the beloved son of Zymora and Allen Walton Sr. He grew up alongside his sister, Carola, and brothers, David and James, all of whom have preceded him in death.
Al leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family members. His wife of 38 years, Evelyn Walton, stood by his side, sharing countless moments of joy and companionship. Al was a devoted father to his daughters, Vanessa Braxton and Nicole Tholmer, and his sons, Orienthal, and Shannon Arnold. His sister, Olivia Walton, Sister In-laws: Nadine Walton and Sarah Davinchi, and Niece’s: Salihah, Zymora Nephew’s: Darius, Julian, Tilab, and JohnnyMohawk along with his ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, will forever hold his memory dear.
Al's educational journey led him to obtain an honorable discharge from the Army in February 1977, after serving his country from September 1969. Following his military service, he worked as a trade show foreman until his retirement. Al possessed a deep love for literature and music, finding solace and inspiration in the pages of books and the notes of melodies.
Throughout his life, Al made significant contributions to his community and the wider society. His dedication to his role as a trade show foreman allowed countless events and exhibitions to come to life seamlessly. He took great pride in his work and always went above and beyond to ensure everything was executed flawlessly. Al's commitment to excellence resonated and left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
In addition to his professional achievements, Al was renowned for his traits that made him truly special. His friendly nature and easygoing personality drew people towards him, creating lifelong friendships and fostering a sense of camaraderie wherever he went. Al's loyalty was unwavering, and he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to those in need. His genuine kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
To honor and celebrate Al's life, a memorial service will be held on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home at 4347 Flat Shoals Pkwy, Decatur, GA 30034. Following the memorial, Al will be laid to rest at Hill Haven Memory Garden and Mausoleum on 490 Edmondson Rd, Monroe, GA 30656.
