Background
Skip fought a 4+ year battle with Colon Cancer, being diagnosed at Stage 4 in February 2019. He beat so many odds and inspired other patients and even his doctors with his determination, humor and hope. Both Skip and the family hope that his story and journey will also save others, as his diagnosis already saved one of his sons. Because of Skip's diagnoses, the doctors ask all three sons (ages 41, 39, and 37 at the time) to get colonoscopies right away. During the colonoscopy of his middle son, Scott, they found three polyps, two of which were pre-cancerous. Had it not been for Skip's diagnosis, Scott would not have had a colonoscopy for another 11 years and doctors said that could have saved Scott's life. Skip always said if the purpose of getting cancer was to save his son's life, it was worth it. That's so Skip!
