Allan's obituary
Allan was born in Milford, New Hampshire, on May 21, 1937, to the late George Bowler and Inez (Peterson) Bowler. In 1956 he graduated from Caesar Rodney High school. Allan married Rose M. Chambers on April 1st, 1961, and they just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. He was the father of three daughters that he was very proud of and cared for deeply.
Allan served for 11 years in the Delaware Air National Guards as a trained mechanic. He was a member of the local electrical union and was employed as an electrician for Diamond State Electric Company for over 30 years when he retired in 1999. He spent many of those years working at General Foods in Dover. In his early years, he worked as a Photographer for Young Studios, a skill, and love that he passed on to his daughter and grandsons. Allan enjoyed many hobbies and interests and was an avid collector; he was very knowledgeable in Stamp, Coin, and Rock collecting. Allan completed training in the lapidary arts and was very proud of his rock and gem collection. Allan’s CB call name was RockHound, and he spent many years as an amateur ham radio operator. Allan was a lifelong learner with an extensive library and a genuine interest in nature, wildlife, geology, history, the Native American culture, and many other topics. He was always happy to share his skills and knowledge with others. He was a hard-working, hands-on, do-it-yourself kind of guy that loved nature and produced many beautiful gardens over the years.
Allan gave to many environmental organizations, Native American tribes, along with 4-H and Scouting. Allan relished the time he spent in Scouting as a youth and was quite proud of being elected to the BSA “Order of the Arrow” (Scouts - Camping Honor Society). Allan was delighted when all of his grandsons also chose to join Scouting and encouraged and supported their Scouting endeavors. He was also proud of his twin granddaughters, who earned their Associates’ degree this month.
Allan is survived by his wife Rose of 60 years, and his three daughters Rose Bowler and her husband Dan Gardner, Dawn Bowler, and Tina Bowler, grandchildren; George England IV, his wife Taylor and son Easton, Dennis Gardner and wife Emily, Allan Austin Gardner-Bowler, Breanna Vega-Bowler, Selena Vega-Bowler, and daughter Azari Wilbourn-Vega, and L. Noah Gardner-Bowler, sisters: Sally Williams and husband Gene, Joan Miller, and several nieces and nephews.
