Aline Ellen Payne, 83, passed away at her home in Rio Rico, AZ on April 28, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband William ( Bill) A Payne. She is survived by her sons William Payne Jr and Kenneth Byron Payne, daughters Valerie and Laura Lee Lawson, sister Jill Milligan, 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Aline Payne was born on March 10, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN to Marjorie and Harry Hirschman. When she met William (Bill) Payne, it was love at first sight and the two highschool sweethearts were married on November 24, 1956. They had 4 children together, Valerie, William Jr., Lauralee and Kenneth.
They bought a house in Whitestown, IN and Aline worked as a secretary while raising the children. After the children were out of the house, she started persuing her passion for writing mysteries, which developed into a thriving business that she ran together with her husband: ' Murder Most Grand', doing murder mysteries all across Indiana and various other states, an endeavor that both enjoyed greatly and excelled at.
After Bill retired in 2000, they purchased a motorhome and travelled across the entire United States and parts of Canada and decided to move to a warmer climate. In 2004 they built a home in Rio Rico, AZ, where they would spend the rest of their lives. They made new friends, Aline enjoyed entertaining, birdwatching and exploring the art and culture of their new home together.
She lovingly cared for Bill when his health deteriorated until his passing on September 16, 2019. After 63 years of marriage her brave and courageous spirit helped her cope with living by herself. Aline had an indomitable and contageous optimism and enthusiasm all her life. She was a true force of nature, her inner strength, sharp wit and zest for life an inspiration to many. She will be thoroughly missed.
