Alice's obituary
Alice Faye Jesse Mae Anne Jones Watson Stringer
1945-2024
Alice F. Stringer, beloved mother to Marcell Stringer of Silverdale, Washington and Marlyne "Starlene" Stringer Hammond of Mansfield, Texas, passed away in Duncanville, Texas from Alzheimer’s complications on June 14, 2024. Although she will be dearly missed, her family, friends and loved ones will forever cherish the memories she created.
Born in Clayton, North Carolina in 1945 to James Arthur Jones and Noraell Williamson, Alice spent her childhood days on her father’s farm and helping her midwife mom. She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Business Education from St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina. In her early career, Sister Stringer taught typing, shorthand, reading and worked as a test proctor administrator. She later became an Equal Opportunity Officer, focusing on affirmative action, before becoming an administrative assistant at Bishop College, and later became a legal secretary. Her greatest joy was her final career. She was the creator and owner of Alice’s Imports. Her business was based inside Vikon Village. But she also took pride in doing private shows at major corporations and small businesses across the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex. Sister Stringer was a proud faithful member of Carver Heights Baptist Church, where she taught Women’s Mission and Sunday School for more than 30 years.
Alice was a devoted mother to Marcell and Marlyne. The single mom did everything she could to ensure they had the foundation needed, to be successful in life. She was overjoyed by their achievements, those of their spouses (Marlo Stringer and Ray Hammond), and her beloved grandchildren (Keirra, Aiyana, Hunter, Zavion, Ray Jr., Rachel, Reagan).
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers John, James and Jerry. She is survived by her siblings, Joe, Janice, and Johnny, her children and their families, and a host of other family members, friends and loved ones. Through them, the life and legacy of Alice F. Stringer will live on.
