Alice Sankey
July 12, 1929 - January 6, 2024
Alice passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6th at the age of 94.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 12, 1929 to Mary and Mario Di Bona. Alice grew up with six brothers, Anthony, Albert, Daniel, George, Charles, Robert and sister, Mary. She graduated from Darby Highschool and was offered a job at the graduation. She accepted and immediately started working as a secretary for the Elementary School that she had attended.
She was married in 1953 to George R. Sankey, who joined the Army. She went on to have a very adventurous life and many amazing stories to tell. They lived in Germany for a while raising their two little boys, Steven and Bobby.
They eventually moved to Daly City where she worked for the School District as Executive Secretary for the Superintendent. She became very close friends with her neighbors, Helga and Marilyn. Many years later, Alice and George retired and moved to Arizona. She loved Arizona and made a lot of friends. After Georges passing, Alice moved back to California and lived In Petaluma where Alice's close friend Marilyn had moved to. She made so many good friends in Petaluma! Knitting and Crocheting were her passion for many years! Making so many things for everyone she knew and didn’t know as well! She loved the book club and her church. She was loved by so many!
In 2017, Alice moved in with her son Steve, daughter-in-law Carla and granddaughter Sarina in El Sobrante, California where she truly enjoyed her family!
Alice was survived by her two brothers, Charles and Bob and sister Mary, who also was her very close friend. Also, her son Steve and his wife, Carla, her grandchildren, Devon and Sarina Sankey along with her grandson Christopher from her dearly departed son Bob. Alice became a Great-Grandma in 2023 to Aleksander, Christopher’s and Maggie’s son.
Alice was such an amazing and extremely strong woman! Devoted to her family. She touched so many people's lives! She truly will be remembered and missed.
Alice will be laid to rest with her husband Sgt. George Sankey at the National Cemetery in Riverside, California on February 9th, 2024 at 10am.
