Alice McFillen, a woman of kind, strong, generous, and loving character, was born on Aug 12, 1949, and asccended to heaven on Nov 15, 2024. Her life was a personified poem of kindness, generosity, and grace, which will be remembered and cherished by all those who were fortunate to have crossed paths with her.

Survived by her beloved daughters, Amy and Amanda McFillen, Alice's absence will be deeply felt. The depth of her love and self-sacrifice for her family was immeasurable, evidenced by the pride she held in her 47-year marriage to her best friend and husband, Terry, and in raising two beautiful daughters. She is also survived by her brother Gene Johnson, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her family was her world and she was theirs.

Alice's compassion and kindness extended beyond her family. Known for her active involvement with Friends of the Library, her dedication and service to the community were recognized when she was honored with the “Friend of the Year” award – an achievement she held dear. She was also an active member of the Civitan Action Krewe and for many years, the Louisiana Special Olympics. Her commitment to the service of others was an integral part of her identity.

Amid the grief, we find comfort in remembering her fondly. Alice's beautiful smile was contagious and her warmth, infectious. Her legendary cooking skills will be nostalgically missed, the memories of her legendary gumbo and coconut cake she prepared serving as reminders of the love she poured into everything she did.

Although she is no longer with us physically, Alice's legacy lives on. Her life is a testament to a life well-lived, adorned with love and kindness. We will miss her dearly, but the essence of Alice - her kindness, her generosity, and her grace - will continue to inspire those who knew her, forever scribed in the annals of our hearts.
