Alice was born in St. Helena, California on January 29, 1941 to Dorothy and Roy Knight. She grew up on Pritchard Hill with her parents and siblings sharing a one room cabin for her first 10 years, while the main home was being built.
She attended St. Helena Primary and St. Helena High School, graduating in 1960. At age 21, she moved to Ukiah, CA. to attend school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Alice met her first husband (Wayne) in Redwood Valley, CA. while working on a farm, taking care of the home owners children. They married in 1966 and shortly afterwards, moved to St. Helena , where their daughter, Tanya was born.
After being widowed for many years, Alice went back to work as a Practical Nurse. She was employed by Napa Convalescent Home for a time, then was assigned to take care of private patients in The Valley, by the local doctors; Wood, Darter and Query, as well as working behind the dining counter at NuWay Drug Store.
In 1983, Alice married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Lippert. Prior to that, they had their daughter, Dottie while living in Willows, Ca.
Alice, a breast cancer and brain tumor survivor, was extremely proud of the fact that she had attended and finished 2 years of classes at Butte College, majoring in English. She was an avid outdoors women who loved the ocean, deer hunting, fishing and mushroom picking.
Alice lit up every room she entered and made every stranger smile just by the sole presence of her uplifting spirit. She had an amazing ability to befriend every one she met.
In her younger years, it wasn’t unusual for her to fill both deer tags. If she wasn’t outdoors, you could catch her breezing through a thick Romance Novel or Western book; crocheting, drawing, cooking, writing or crafting away.
Alice will be sorely missed by her family and many friends, but we take comfort in knowing we have gained a beautiful Angel in Heaven.
Burial arrangements being provided by St. Helena Public Cemetery. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
