Alice Rose Cordova (Maestas), age 81, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on March 7, 1944, in New Mexico, Alice lived a life rooted in love, family, and unwavering grace. Throughout her life, Alice embraced a variety of roles with dedication and heart. She worked at the USPS office in California and at Winchell's Donuts, but her most cherished role was that of a stay-at-home mom. Devoting herself fully to raising her three children, she also played an important part in helping raise several of her grandchildren—a testament to her nurturing spirit and deep commitment to family. Alice’s home was always filled with warmth and style. Her unmatched love for shopping was more than a pastime—it was an art form. She had an extraordinary ability to furnish homes quickly and beautifully, often with a cold Coke in hand. Her passion for baking and cooking brought joy to many gatherings, where her meals were as comforting as her presence. Together with her beloved husband Pete Cordova, Alice enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family and made countless memories during their frequent trips to the casino. A skilled poker player in her younger years, she relished the thrill of the game and the camaraderie it brought. Even as time passed, hearing from her children and grandchildren remained the highlight of her day. Alice’s life was marked by kindness and a calming presence that made her the peacemaker within her family. She carried herself with composure and grace through all of life’s moments—both joyful and challenging—and was deeply loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Irene Cordova; son Samuel Cordova and his wife Annette (Garcia) Cordova; sister Rayes Torres; sister-in-law Mary Gonzales; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her father William Maestas; mother Irene Martinez; husband Pete Cordova; son Steve Cordova; daughters-in-law Josephine Corova and Angelina Castro; and son-in-law Albert Castro. A celebration of life will be held on August 23, 2025, at 2 PM at the residence of her son, Samuel Cordova. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to support the placement of both Alice and Pete in their forever resting place. For donation details, please contact Sam or Annette Cordova. Alice’s legacy is one of love, peace, and unity—a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
