Alice's obituary
Alice Caruana (née Finnegan), age 78, passed away on April 1, 2025, in Elgin, Illinois.
Born on April 23, 1946, in Queens, New York, Alice grew up surrounded by the vibrant energy of the city that shaped her no-nonsense spirit. She was part of what many affectionately call the "no filter generation"—a straight shooter who spoke her mind with honesty and heart.
Alice shared a remarkable 51-year marriage with her beloved husband, who preceded her in death in 2022. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love and resilience. Together they raised two sons: James, the eldest, and Anthony, born four years later.
Family was central to Alice’s life. She was one of five siblings and held deep bonds with her older sister Kathy and younger sisters Patricia and Margaret. Her baby brother Joseph also preceded her in death.
Throughout her life, Alice maintained lifelong friendships that began in the 1970s during her time in New York. These relationships spanned decades and distances—from New York to Chicago to Florida—sustained through regular communication and visits over more than fifty years. These treasured connections were a source of joy and strength for Alice throughout her life.
Alice's legacy is one of authenticity, loyalty, and enduring love—for family, for friends, and for the life she built across cities and decades. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
