Obituary of Alice Roberts Beiswenger
Alice Roberts Beiswenger 96, from West Chester, PA passed away peacefully into eternity on October 23, 2022.
Alice was born October 30, 1925, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Anna Strutt Roberts and Lyle Milford Roberts.
Alice was the oldest of six children, William Roberts (*), Anna Walsh, Lyle Roberts (*), Lylia Hoehl and J. Riley Roberts.
Alice grew up in tumultuous times leaving high school early to join the WW 2 war effort to work as a burner at Dravo shipyards. As a patriot committed to championing the war effort, Alice was the epitome of “Rosie the Riveter”.
After World War 2 in 1946, Alice married the love of her life, Paul Franklin Beiswenger (*). Alice and Paul were childhood friends before their relationship turned romantic when they were 16 years old. They were married for 52 years.
Alice and Paul had five children, Jo Ann Fearing, Robert Paul (Rob) Beiswenger and wife Janet, William David (Bill) Beiswenger and wife Catherine, Alice Louise (Lou) Miller and Frederick John (Fritz) Beiswenger and wife Nancy.
For many years, Alice devoted herself to raising her children. Alice loved to cook spending many hours in her kitchen dubbed “Alice’s Restaurant”. She enjoyed entertaining, planning dinner parties and preparing different cuisines for her family and friends to enjoy.
Alice had fourteen grandchildren and she loved each one individually. She believed that love given multiplies back to the giver and the more love she gave the more she received to give again. Her grandchildren are, Roxanne and husband Michael Higgins, Laura and husband Adrian Wallace, Ryan Miller, Sarah Jenkins (*), Jared Beiswenger (*), Rachel Beiswenger, Jacob Beiswenger, Jonathan Beiswenger and wife Jacqueline, Bethany and husband Jason Boyda, Anna Beiswenger, David Beiswenger, Michael Beiswenger, Tamara Beiswenger and James Beiswenger.
Alice had thirteen great grandchildren, Michael Ryan, Lance, Harvey, Henry, Ali, Judah, Micah, Shiloh, Benjamin, Asher, Raegan and Rhys and one girl, Eloise Ann, on the way.
For many years, Alice gave of herself as a volunteer serving the elderly and infirm at St. Barnabas, Gibsonia, PA where she was nominated as volunteer of the year. After moving to Myrtle Beach, she served the poor and indigent as a volunteer for “Caring 4 Kids”. When she moved to Raleigh, she volunteered at The Heritage cleaning and donating stuffed animals to children at local hospitals.
Services will be held at a date to be determined at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project to support and honor our brave troops and veterans. https://www.woundedwarriorpro…
