Alfred's obituary

Alfred L. Jarvis, Sr. was born on July 27th, 1947, in Pittsfield, Mass and passed away on October 14tn, 2024 in Lewiston, Maine. After graduating from Pittsfield High School, Alfred proudly served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at the U.S Naval Hospital in Newport, RI., during the Vietnam war. He left service and dedicated many years to his career in masonry and construction. Most of his work can be seen throughout New England, especially in Portland, Maine, where he lived most of his life. Alfred and his former spouse Constance Crawford of Portland, ME., had four children: Jennifer, A Jr., Michelle, and Jason.

Alfred was a dedicated, hard-working man, a practical joker, and a big kid at heart. His friendliness was part of his genuine care for animals and people. He also supported and spent time with veterans in need. He was known for his mischievous personality, playfulness, storytelling, and his passion for history. He enjoyed staying connected with his family and friends, being close to nature, listening to music, dancing, and being an avid dog lover.

He is survived by his four children, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his domestic partner of 14 years, Nancy Mendez.

He is predeceased by his parents Raymond Jarvis and Olive Bouchard, His brother Ronnie of Colorado, his twin brother, PFC Edward C. Jarvis who was killed in Vietnam, while serving as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army, his half-sister Donna of AL. and his stepsister Marianne of Mass.

All who knew him will deeply miss him.
