Corky's obituary
Alfred "Corky" Stickel passed peacefully on August 1, 2025, hand in hand with his daughter and embraced by the love of his family. He was born on July 2nd, 1931, in Portland, Oregon.
Corky graduated from high school in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, earning the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. On December 31st, 1955, Corky married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Sahli.
Following his military service, Corky dedicated 30 years to the Portland Public School District as an Athletic Equipment Extraordinaire, skillfully crafting and repairing sports equipment. His dedication and expertise were honored upon his retirement. Corky also shared his talents with the local professional hockey team, creating custom fiberglass masks for elite goalies - a true craftsman at heart.
Corky is survived by his six children - Joseph, Bernadette, Elizabeth, Dominic, Julie, and Michael; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
