Alexus's obituary

Alexus Mariah Hill, 28, of Tallahassee, Florida, unexpectedly passed away on February 15, 2025, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew her.

A woman of God, her remarkable spirit and unwavering dedication touched countless lives through her work as an educator, community advocate, and her genuine love for those around her.

She believed in the transformative power of education and dedicated herself to fostering a love of learning in the young minds she encountered. As an award winning teacher her classroom was more than just a place of instruction; it was a safe haven where students felt encouraged to explore their potential and discover their unique talents.

Beyond the walls of the school, Alexus championed the needs of her community, particularly its most vulnerable members.  She possessed a rare combination of empathy and action, always striving to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.  Her commitment to service was evident in her tireless efforts to provide support and create opportunities for children in need, ensuring they had access to enriching experiences and the resources necessary to thrive.

Alexus' intellectual curiosity was a driving force in her life.  Her extensive personal library, a carefully curated collection of over 1,000 books, served as a testament to her insatiable thirst for knowledge.  From her cherished Bible to classic literature and contemporary fiction, her shelves held a diverse range of works that shaped her outlook on life. This intellectual passion extended beyond her personal pursuits, informing her christianity, teaching and her community enrichment activities.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Alexus will remember her for her infectious laughter, her love for her dog Luka, her charismatic personality, and her boundless compassion.  God blessed her with a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life, making them feel seen, heard, and valued.  Her genuine kindness and unwavering support left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.  Whether sharing a lighthearted moment with friends, offering a comforting word to someone in need, or simply lending a listening ear, Alexus had a way of making those around her feel special.

Her love for animals was exemplified by her cherished German Shepherd, Luka, who was a constant companion, a daily walking partner and source of joy.

Alexus cherished her family above all else. She loved both her mom and dad deeply. She loved being on the football field while her dad coached and she cherished those heartfelt moments with her mom that only a mother and daughter can share.  Her bond with her brothers was particularly strong.  She shared a special connection with Bryson, her brother and best friend, their relationship a source of mutual support, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Her older brother Isaiah always led by example, was a protector, and she cherished him for being a consistent source of love in her life and for giving her the joy of being an Aunt to Harper and Carson.

Alexus leaves behind a legacy of love, community, and intellectual curiosity all centered on her belief in God. She is survived by her loving Mother, Nicole; her devoted Father, Ed; and her doting brothers, Isaiah (Rebecca), Bryson, niece Harper and nephew Carson. She will also be deeply missed by her grandparents, Bob and Joanne Lane; Uncles Kevin Lane, Josh Nimblett (Candice),  Aunts Tammy Lucas, Stephanie Jones, and Jennifer Bell. Cousins Brittany Knox, Amber Reid, Justin Lucas, Trevor Lucas, Troy Lucas, Jakobi Rich, Makaila Nimblett, Devon Nimblett, Donovan Bell, Dana-Lauren Bell, Alexandrea Bell, Saylor Nimblett, Nash Nimblett, and Cady Wilson; great cousins Braylen Cady, De'von Lane-Cruz, Armaan Lucas and Reylin Crespo and best friend Drea Hardee.

She will be remembered with love by her extended family, friends, colleagues, students, and all who had the honor of knowing and loving her.  Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all the lives she touched. Her way of sharing love from God through herself and onto others will be an inspiration for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Dianne McDonald.
