"On a rainy Sunday summer afternoon (some would say the sky was crying), my incomparable sister Alexis Rose Cohan passed peacefully in a mid-Long Island hospital surrounded by loving family.

I am a devastated big brother.... heartbroken.... as is her very proud mom, younger brother and father and many more family and friends. Life is so messy, tragic and beautiful.

She was.... Pure will. Pure joy. Pure love. So much light and warmth. Daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, and kind, mischievous, brave soul. She was the special girl with the special heart. The ultimate underdog, she beat long odds and thrilled so many times.

Throughout her life, people like me were always anxious to protect her and we did. Funny, along the way she ended up having a far greater impact on all of us than we did on her. She made me and others so much happier, stronger, wiser and so much more loved and loving.
