Alex's obituary
Alex Joshua "AJ" Ortiz, 24, passed away on April 5th, 2024, in Gilbert, AZ. He was in his home and presumed to have passed due to health complications, peacefully in his sleep.
Although he was only 24, AJ accomplished so much in his short life. He kicked serious ass in karate growing up, loved his video games, and was active in soccer throughout his life. He never loved school but graduated at Williams Field High School in 2017. He went on a weight loss journey in 2020 where he lost over 80 pounds. AJ also took a lot of pride in the work he did with his family and with the Post Office. He was learning to cook and had a solid French Toast recipe. He was adventurous in his last years, traveling to Oregon, Washington D.C., the U.K., France, and Belgium for the first time. He also moved to Utah and back to Arizona, getting to experience living independently. He also owned a condo in Tempe! AJ loved music and recently acquired a rather large record collection, along with a keyboard, wanting to learn to play. He was looking forward to his first concert later this month. He was also excited about exploring Japan and making business moves by buying additional properties with his siblings.
He is survived by his parents, Alex and Sarah Ortiz, his sisters, Desiray and Cheyenne Ortiz, his grandparents, Stella and Rey Ortiz, among many other close relatives (Bobby, Blanca, Louie, Jacob, Ashlyn, and more of the Ortiz family), and his beloved dog, Rango.
We will forever remember his contagious smile and cheeky words.
