Alex "Blackie" Gross, 75, of Munster passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2000. He was born September 12, 1924, the son of the late Solomon and Mary Gross. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Gross of 50 years, three devoted children, a son Howard (Kathy) Gross, and two daughters, Barbara (Robert) Green, and Rosalie (Terry) Zarowny. He was blessed with 10 loving grandchildren, Allison Becker, Michelle and Adam Gross, Jared, Jason, Steven and David Green, and Eric, Jordan and Evan Zarowny; three brothers: Bernard Gross, Henry (Barb) Gross and Jack (Sondra) Gross. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Shimanovsky.

Funeral services on Friday, February 25, 2000, 11 a.m. at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. Burial at Temple-Beth El Cemetery, Portage, IN. Visitation will be held Friday, one hour prior to the service. Donations can be made to Congregation Beth Israel, Hammond, IN.

Alex was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel. He operated a wholesale grocery store and a laundromat.
