Alex's obituary

On August 26th, 2023, Alex Eugene Martin of Fallon, NV, passed away in his home. He was 38 years old.
Alex was born on October 18th, 1984 in Reno, Nevada to Clay & Lori Martin. October 18th is a particularly significant date, because Alex was born as a 4th wedding anniversary gift to his parents.
At an early age, Alex developed a quick wit, but he matched it with a kind and considerate heart. His favorite toy growing up was "My Buddy." It was clear that Alex enjoyed and cared for people, as he displayed this very early on – refusing to go anywhere, or do anything, without his buddy.
Growing up, Alex made friends easily. He had a great sense of humor. When he moved to Chico, California to live with his father, he joined the football team as a tight end receiver. He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2003.
Alex was a disciple of science. He was deeply curious about the universe, galaxies beyond, and the alien lives that inhabit them. He pondered the "how" and the "why" of human existence. Alex was less interested in where we will go, and more interested in from where we arrived.
Alex was also an avid hunter, going on annual deer hunting trips with his father Clay & grandfather Curt. This might explain his fascination with weaponry, mainly swords and knives. That being said, Alex was very much a peace-loving individual, with a gentle spirit, who genuinely cared for others, and most especially, his family.
After his father's passing, Alex moved to Fernley, NV to live with his mother and brother. While in Fernley, in 2019, Alex met Chris Martinez. The two quickly formed a close connection. This connection soon blossomed into a loving connection between Alex and Chris's daughters, Vera & Wilma. Even after Chris and Alex amicably separated, Alex always considered both girls to be his daughters. That never changed.
After some time had passed, Alex returned to Fallon, NV, where he met Dee Terrain. The two began dating, and eventually became engaged. Sadly, due to the decline in Alex's health, and the distance between them, the couple separated. However, they remained close friends until he passed.
Alex survived major health problems which evolved into hospice care. He was revived twice, but not expected to make a full recovery. However, Alex did not take this new lease on life he was afforded for granted. He miraculously seemed to be making progress. Even though there were the predetermining factors, Alex spent his last days living a full, active life. During this time, he made a close connection with Heather Armistead who comforted and supported him until the very end.
Alex was predeceased by his father, Clay Martin, grandfather Steve Black, grandfather Gary Martin of Chico, grandparents Curtis Downer & Peggy Downer of Chico, and grandmother Rose Woolley of Sparks, Nevada He is survived by his Mother, Lori Peavey, brother, Brandon Peavey. Aunts, Hope Hood of Paradise, CA, Robin Martin of Chico, Gina Vercruyssen of Chico, CA. Cousin Jason Shirley of Chico, CA. Grandmothers, Ann Krumm of Bella Vista, CA, & Linda Martin of Chico, CA, and his two children, Vera & Wilma of Nixon, NV.
Alex will always be just as beloved as he was while he was alive. We will always remember his unbreakable smile and his loving nature. He will be sorely missed.
A memorial service & birthday celebration will be held in Alex's honor at The Old Post Office in Fallon, NV on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 at 4:00 PM. Please refer to the Events tab for more information.
