Alberta's obituary
On August 10, 1965, at 1:05 p.m., in Charlotte, North Carolina, Alberta Caldwell entered the world at Memorial Hospital—a light that would grow into a presence full of warmth, strength, and undeniable spirit. From an early age, Alberta carried a natural sweetness that would come to define her life and the way she loved those around her.
Growing up in Charlotte, she attended J.T. Williams Middle School during the 1980–1981 school years, where her energy and school pride shined brightly. As a cheerleader, she didn’t just participate, she stood out, earning recognition and an award for her dedication and enthusiasm. She later graduated from Independence High School, where she maintained A and B honor roll status, reflecting both her intelligence and her commitment to doing her best.
But beyond her achievements, Alberta was known for who she was at her core. She was outgoing, spontaneous, and full of life—the kind of person who could light up a room without even trying. Whether in Charlotte, California, or later in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she passed, her presence was always felt. She lived freely, loved deeply, and brought her unique energy everywhere she went.
To her family, Alberta was everything. She was a devoted mother to Ricky Caldwell, Kee-Kee Caldwell Browning, and Jada Caldwell, pouring love into them in a way only she could. She was also a deeply caring daughter. Her mother often described her as the sweetest person—a woman who never hesitated to show up, to give, and to make sure her mother was always cared for. That love and selflessness were not occasionally they were simply who Alberta was.
Her faith and spirit were woven into her everyday life. Those who shared church moments with her remember not just her presence, but her voice—lifting songs that carried both joy and strength. One song in particular echoed the way she lived:
“Now we just heard from the Lord, be of good courage and be strong… hold on all your armor and carry on…”
Those words weren’t just lyrics—they were a reflection of her resilience, her faith, and the way she encouraged others to keep going, no matter what.
Alberta’s life reminds us of the promise found in scripture:
“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
She embodied that courage. She embodied that strength. And most of all, she embodied love.
Alberta Caldwell will be remembered not just for the places she lived or the milestones she reached, but for the way she made people feel—seen, care for, and uplifted. Her story lives on in her children, her family, and in every life, she touched with her kindness and vibrant spirit.
Her memory will forever be carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
