Albert's obituary
Albert “Bert” Lynn Woodson, age unnoticed due to impeccable aging, of 505 ½ Sycamore St, St Marys, WV answered his calling to sit among our Savoir, Jesus Chris on March 17, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his father and first pastor, Howard Nappier and sister, Terry Lynn Nappier.
He is survived by the “migrants” of his St Marys family. These include his pride, purpose, and son, Darrien Bortey (17); his “Joy”, swing-dancing partner, and sister-in-law, Janet Ferarro; his sister by choice and by Christ (in light and dark), Melissa McKinley; his prince of debates of all things, nephew, Benjamin Long (18); therapy pup, Beyo Bortey-Ferarro; and his protector-in-training, Scoobert “Scooby” Woodson pup.
Bert is also survived by his loving mother, Pastor Estalla “Polly” Nappier and children; daughter, Theresa Woodson; son, LaChance Woodson; four sisters, two brothers, five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews of his hometown of Dunbar, WV. He is also survived by his adored ex-wife, Jennifer Ferarro-Woodson of Morgantown, WV.
Bert was an employee of Simex Vinyl Extrusions as a Mill Technician and was advancing his education from an Associate’s degree to a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He was also participant in the Golden Gloves Championship in the 1980’s. Albert loved his family, music, and art. He was an avid singer and coordinated many groups and choirs. His music repertoire was from all walks of music from the 50's up to current times. He never met a stranger. Albert had an electric magnitude that gravitated people towards him. Albert made people laugh, he was a big joke teller. He lifted the spirits of all that were around and children loved him. He was dramatic, a jokester, a singer, a fighter, a teacher, a good worker, an inspirational speaker and storyteller, a sharp dresser, a confidant, and a Best Friend to many.
Bert was laid to rest in his hometown of Dunbar, WV on March 27, 2021.
A memorial will be held at the First Baptist Church of St Marys (425 Barkwill Street, St Marys, WV 26170) on Thursday, April 8, 2021 beginning at 6:00 pm. An informal service will be just prior to a fellowship dinner. All of our St Marys family and friends are encouraged and welcome to attend. Please RSVP by texting or calling (304)841-4291 or (304)290-1523.
