Several times every week I think about Bert and the friendship we shared as brothers in Christ and as just two older men who "got along" which today is difficult for many. He was a kind and considerate man of principle who loved his Savior, his wife and family, and his church and fellow man. Today I am feeling my age and infirmities and perhaps this year I may join him in the Glory of Christ's presence.  Hallelujah!
I remember our friendship from time to time and miss him and his many kindnesses.  He was a true friend and they are extremely hard to come by. He is in The Glory and that gives me comfort. God bless his loved ones!
From time to time I am mindful of what a good and true friend Bert was to me and others. As a single man all my life, there is loneliness upon occasion and as I grow older and gray(er), I only look  for real friendship in an ocean of acquaintances at best. The memory over the  years of true friends along the road of life is sweet. Thank God that Jesus is the Friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

I have been thinking about Bert's faithful friendship this past week and now he is in the presence of The Lord of Lords and King of Kings. This morning I listened to 5 sermons from Lloyd-Jones to Conrad Mbewe (called the African Spurgeon) and the latter was preaching on Revelation 5 where we we encounter  worship in heaven and to think that along with Lloyd-Jones Bert is in that mighty assembly worshipping The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world: it is beyond imagination and mere words. May all who read this think on these things!! And put your entire trust in Christ The Lord and so be in that throng one day...soon. Even so, Come Lord Jesus.
Bert thoughtfully made many acts of kindness so plentiful that I cannot isolate just one. He was a man who the Spirit worked through that kindness was a way of life. He thoughtfully cared about others and sought to glorify God by loving others. Sola Deo Gloria!

It was a blessing to know Bert these past few years in York. He was a true example of a follower of Christ. He was so knowledgeable of the Bible. I looked forward to hearing him teach as Stan did. Now they have all eternity with their Savior. My love and prayers are with you all as we continue this journey on earth to honor our Lord until we meet our loved ones again. God bless and comfort you.
My heart goes out to you and your family. Your husband was a blessing to so many. May God comfort you with something special to remember him.
Bert was ever thirsting after Spiritual Scriptural knowledge and trying to apply an ethic of loving others when I find very few professed Christians doing that today. It was a joy to me as a teacher of the Bible that I had a friend I could be at ease with and know that he wanted to Honor his Savior and Lord even if I did not always agree with his stance. We will meet again and what a day that will be! May his loved ones and I am sure there were/are many be comforted in knowing that he is with Christ in the Glory and may they desire to be with Christ too, by bowing the knee of their hearts and minds to The Messiah, the King of God's true Israel, and Savior of the world. Sola Deo Gloria!
I am so sorry to hear that Bert passed into God's hands. I can remember him being in my life for like forever. You and he started dating right before Louann and my Dad. Bert was always so funny. Always had a big smile on his face and a new joke for me and Brian when we would visit. It saddens my heart that such a great person has passed on but he is now your Guardian Angel, watching over you making sure his beloved is OK. I love and miss you. Your in my thoughts and prayers. Sending y'all big hugs and kisses plus Lots of Love. 😞😪🙏😇🤗😘💙💙💙💙
So sorry for your loss. I will cherish all the fond memories of once my brother in law. Hugs and prayers for the family.
I am deeply sorry for you losing such a kind, happy , faithful man. I’ll be praying for you Lorraine, Amanda, and Becca as I did when I heard of his illness. Peace in Christ, Valerie Hayden
