Hey Coach,

I was deeply saddened to learn of your passing. The world is truly a lesser place without you.

From the moment I met you, I was struck by the positive energy and sense of possibility you carried. You believed so fully in others that, in time, I came to believe in myself because you believed in me. That gift has stayed with me.

Since then, I have worked intentionally to embody that same belief and trust in the people around me. I have seen firsthand the same quiet magic you worked on me take root in others who are now in my care and leadership. I will continue striving to be a better man, a better husband, and a better leader because of what you modeled.

I did not have many positive mentors or coaches growing up. Most, like my father and many of that era, were what we used to call “old school.” You were ahead of your time. In the years since, I have read extensively about leadership and reflect on it often. Looking back, I realize I learned far more about life than sport during my time with you as my coach.

I will continue to do my part and carry your influence forward.

Thank you for everything.

I only knew Alan for a short time at the beginning of his ALS journey, but he made such a huge impression on me with his grace, kindness, and always thinking about others. I know he will be missed.  So sorry for your loss. Holly Giglio OTR/L.

I will forever have a special place in my heart for Alan. He gave me the opportunity to be a Sped para for him while he was the Principal at Ranum Middle School. Those were the best years of my career. If it hadn't been for him believing in me, I wouldn't be where I am today. Alan was always so kind to me, asking daily how my day was going and always willing to help out when needed. Alan also helped get me a job at Homyak shortly after he took the superintendent job in that district. Once again, I am forever grateful. Thank you Alan for always believing in me and for all you did for the students you served. You touched the lives of so many! You will be deeply missed. ❤️

Gail, Alan was a good guy and a good neighbor. The neighborhood was a better place because of him.  So sorry for your loss.
