Al was a wonderful human being - his loss is so hard for his family and the many friends he gathered around him during his life. I met him through my cousin Phil, who recommended him as a skilled contractor and handyman. Al and I worked together for five years, getting my house in Seattle ready to sell and also fixing various problems at my beach place on Hood Canal. Beyond his incredible skills and absolute trustworthiness, Al was a dear friend whom I came to rely on. He epitomized the many heroes in our lives who go through life unknown to the broader public: loving husband and father, grandpa to his adored grandkids, a friend who was still close to friends he made in school when young and to the many he acquired thereafter, lover of animals, a man of true character. Al is irreplaceable, this earth is poorer for his absence. He will be forever loved and missed, especially by his dear family and also by the many friends who count themselves lucky to have known him.
