Alan's obituary
We are saddened to announce the passing of Alan Lee Hackleman who passed away at his home on June 16th at the age of 59.
Alan was a lifelong fan of baseball and football, and his heart belonged to the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He followed his teams through every season—win or lose—and rarely missed a game.
Born in Independence, Missouri, on April 25, 1966, to Nancy and Randy Hackleman, Alan found joy in the rhythm of the seasons, the excitement of a close game, and the community that came from cheering on his teams. Sundays were sacred in the fall, and spring brought the promise of a new baseball season—he believed in both like clockwork.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Stephanie, his children—Allison Hackleman, Ariel Hackleman Geil (and husband Abbott), as well as Lucas Hackleman (and wife Cassi), his sister, Gina Palmer (and husband Rob), his mother, Nancy Ingolia Hackleman, his sister-in-law, Diane Sevart (and husband Ron), his parents-in-law, Steve and Julia Wadkins, as well as a host of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date in accordance with his wishes. In honor of his memory and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Owen’s Battle Buddies, a nonprofit inspired by Alan’s nephew, Owen, that provides direct financial assistance to families with children battling cancer, offering relief from the financial burdens associated with medical treatments and related expenses.
