Ahmad's obituary
We regretfully announce the passing of Dr. Ahmad Shaikh, a devoted family man, an esteemed academic, and a proud son of Sindh. Born on June 6, 1935, he passed away on December 21, 2024, leaving a legacy that will forever be a source of inspiration.
Ahmad is survived by his beloved wife, Zubaida Shaikh, his sons; Faiq and Naveed Shaikh, and his daughters; Asma, Samia, Rabia, Naheed, and Attiya, and many grand- and great grandchildren. His family was his backbone and their accomplishments his joy. He lived his life nurturing and guiding them with unwavering love and dedication.
Born in Kot, Sindh, he lived in Khairpur Mirs in his early years, completed his bachelors in Engineering at N.E.D., Karachi, then completed his Ph.D in Soil Mechanics & Hydraulics from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. He was a religious man, a venerated scholar, and a kind and loving family man.
As a person, he was polite, soft-spoken, honest, and respectful. He loved spicy desi (especially Sindhi) food. He was a source of wisdom and morality for his family, students, and community in general. Dr. Shaikh's life was a testament to his strength and perseverance, and he will forever be remembered with deep respect and admiration.
